Can you believe I never went camping once this summer? I couldn’t stand this fact and booked a last minute trip to Otter Falls campground in Manitoba. How would I sum it up? One word. COLD. We learned the hard way and made a list of cold weather camping tips to share so you don’t have to freeze like we did! My husband Darcy and I had never camped past the September long weekend. We knew it was going to be cold so we packed everything! The forecast was saying it would rain for days and we replied with “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing!” We…
The story of how my dog's name was inspired by Fionn MacCool from the Giant's Causeway. Miniature Australian Shepherds are incredibly loyal and intelligent.
Irish dancing is very special to me and I’ve been dedicated to it since 2010 when I signed up for my first lessons. I’ve progressed further than I would have ever thought especially since I started so late in life. A background in ballet gave me a good foundation since a lot of the positions and steps are the same just named differently. Sprinkle some fairy dust!Facebook7TwitterPinterest0Tumblr0email
Every Sunday I try to head out into the world and go on an adventure. Depending on the weather I sometimes don’t always get to but today was probably the best day I’ve seen in a while. My dog Fionn and I couldn’t resist the sunshine pouring in through the windows so we got our things together and went on a little adventure. I love watching the birds. My dad built a nice big bird feeder for the family to enjoy bird watching from the kitchen window. It was big enough to hold all sizes from small chickadees to blue jays and even owls! It’s amazing all the wild life that would flock to the feeder. Even black bears! This poem was written over the Christmas holidays back in 2011 when I stayed a few days at my parent’s house. I’d sit in the kitchen window watching the little birds dancing back and forth from the feeder to the trees. It was so cute and they inspired me to get my notebook out and write a little poem. I haven’t done that in ages as you can tell from the date of this poem! Maybe I’ll start writing a few new poems for later blog posts? I’m sure when spring rolls around it will give me lots to write about. Until then please enjoy this one. Sprinkle some fairy…
During 2014 I posted a series of blog posts called “12 Things I Learned in the Forest.” These stories were so fun to write and really gave me a chance to reflect on my time growing up in a forest. Each story featured a lesson that helped me grow into the person I am today. At the time these little adventures didn’t seem like a lesson but more of just a fun day out in the woods with my family. Now that I’m older I’ve found a lot more meaning in those early evening walks or Sunday afternoon hikes down our forest trail. Sprinkle some fairy dust!Facebook6TwitterPinterest0Tumblr0email
Wishing you all a very magical and happy Valentine’s Day! My hunny buns surprised me with a fox stuffy, pancake breakfast and chocolate this morning! Woo hoo! How did you celebrate? Sprinkle some fairy dust!Facebook2TwitterPinterest0Tumblr0email
