Winter day in the woods with Fionn

Happy new year forest friends! One of my New Years resolutions is to take more photos of my adventures and write more blog posts. So I’m starting off with a chilly winter day out in the snow with my best buddy Fionn. I spent the weekend out at my parent’s place where we had a delicious traditional Ukrainian dinner for Ukrainian New Years. We found out my father is 97% Ukrainian after getting an Ancestry DNA test done. But that’s a story for another time. Anyways dinner was great and I’m excited to keep learning more about my Ukrainian heritage which I barely know anything about except that cabbage rolls…

Christmas traditions I’ll carry on forever

Each year Christmas traditions are celebrated and new ones begin. I’m a huge fan of tradition and taking notice to the things my family has done year after year. I’ve learned that the decorations we display, food we make, gatherings we attend and even the music we play during the holidays is what makes our celebrations unique and memorable. Now that I have a home of my own I’ve started my own traditions and of course brought along the most special ones that will always make my Christmas special. Here are some I’d like to share with you. Adventure Sunday in the Assiniboine Forest

Every Sunday I try to head out into the world and go on an adventure. Depending on the weather I sometimes don’t always get to but today was probably the best day I’ve seen in a while. My dog Fionn and I couldn’t resist the sunshine pouring in through the windows so we got our things together and went on a little adventure. Winter Bird Feeder Adventures

I love watching the birds. My dad built a nice big bird feeder for the family to enjoy bird watching from the kitchen window. It was big enough to hold all sizes from small chickadees to blue jays and even owls! It’s amazing all the wild life that would flock to the feeder. Even black bears! Cozy Faux Fur Vests for Winter

A fashion trend I’ve really taken notice of this winter has been the faux fur vest. They have been everywhere and look so incredibly cozy. During winter we tend to wear layers and this is the perfect piece to layer over a thin long sleeved hoody or shirt. Add a scarf and some fur lined boots and you’ve got a great winter look.
