    The first camping trip of the year started off at a park I have never visited before. Riding Mountain National Park is Manitoba’s only National Park and I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to finally visit it. It had been my birthday on the Friday of the May long weekend so we didn’t leave until Saturday morning.     Ste. Anne, Manitoba: Exploring the trails off of the Pipeline

    A short walk from my family home there is a network of trails that the locals have built and maintained for the past several years. My dad and I have recently discovered them and went for a hike on Easter weekend. It was unusually warm that day and almost felt like summer. We actually got a bit of sun which was a good reminder that it doesn’t need to be summer to put on sunscreen.     Lessons from the Forest

    During 2014 I posted a series of blog posts called “12 Things I Learned in the Forest.” These stories were so fun to write and really gave me a chance to reflect on my time growing up in a forest. Each story featured a lesson that helped me grow into the person I am today. At the time these little adventures didn’t seem like a lesson but more of just a fun day out in the woods with my family. Now that I’m older I’ve found a lot more meaning in those early evening walks or Sunday afternoon hikes down our forest trail.
