Autumn camping trip to Otter Falls

Can you believe I never went camping once this summer? I couldn’t stand this fact and booked a last minute trip to Otter Falls campground in Manitoba. How would I sum it up? One word. COLD. We learned the hard way and made a list of cold weather camping tips to share so you don’t have to freeze like we did! My husband Darcy and I had never camped past the September long weekend.  We knew it was going to be cold so we packed everything! The forecast was saying it would rain for days and we replied with “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing!” We…

A mother and daughter adventure to beautiful British Columbia

This past March I hopped on a plane with my mom and flew to British Columbia. For the last few years Mom has been making this yearly trip to visit her sister and family. She invited me along this time for a little mother daughter adventure. It definitely started out a bit rocky with some of the flights getting canceled due to blizzard weather but even though our flight was delayed a little we were still scheduled to leave for Abbotsford. Our flight made one stop in Edmonton first and I was really nervous. This was the first time I had flown in a snow storm. Looking out the window…

Cross Country Ski Adventure in the Sandilands

This winter I decided to take up cross country skiing. Due to a knee injury I’ve not been able to exercise or be as active as I’d like to be. I needed to find an activity that would keep me moving, close to nature and help clear my mind. I found the sliding motion of skiing was just the right movement and didn’t cause any pain to my knee. It’s been quite an awesome workout and has really increased my stamina and endurance. Mr. Darcy has also taken it up so we get to spend time together and it’s fun to motivate each other. But the biggest benefit I’ve enjoyed…

Winter day in the woods with Fionn

Happy new year forest friends! One of my New Years resolutions is to take more photos of my adventures and write more blog posts. So I’m starting off with a chilly winter day out in the snow with my best buddy Fionn. I spent the weekend out at my parent’s place where we had a delicious traditional Ukrainian dinner for Ukrainian New Years. We found out my father is 97% Ukrainian after getting an Ancestry DNA test done. But that’s a story for another time. Anyways dinner was great and I’m excited to keep learning more about my Ukrainian heritage which I barely know anything about except that cabbage rolls…

A Fairy Happy Birthday with The Forest Fairy

This past October I was asked to attend a fairy themed birthday party my friend was throwing for her two daughters. The invite was a little different as I was not going as a guest but the entertainment. What is a fairy party without a real fairy?! My friend knew I already had the outfit, accessories, glitter and wings ready to go and asked me if I would dress up and add some magic to the party. How could I say no? Happy International Fairy Day 2015

It’s that time of year again when we celebrate a beautiful day dedicated to the fairies! Fairy day is a holiday celebrated all around the world from the imagination of artist Jessica Galbreth. I remember seeing her work back when I first became aware of the Fae and it really inspired me to look more into the world of fairies. Every year I’ve tried to acknowledge this day as a reminder that there’s always time to appreciate the magic in our lives. Celebrate today by looking closely at the magic around you. Those who don’t look for magic will never find it. Sprinkle some fairy dust!Facebook9TwitterPinterest0Tumblr0email

Adventure Sunday in the Assiniboine Forest

Every Sunday I try to head out into the world and go on an adventure. Depending on the weather I sometimes don’t always get to but today was probably the best day I’ve seen in a while. My dog Fionn and I couldn’t resist the sunshine pouring in through the windows so we got our things together and went on a little adventure. Winter Bird Feeder Adventures

I love watching the birds. My dad built a nice big bird feeder for the family to enjoy bird watching from the kitchen window. It was big enough to hold all sizes from small chickadees to blue jays and even owls! It’s amazing all the wild life that would flock to the feeder. Even black bears!
