Exploring the trails off of the Pipeline

A short walk from my family home there is a network of trails that the locals have built and maintained for the past several years. My dad and I have recently discovered them and went for a hike on Easter weekend. It was unusually warm that day and almost felt like summer. We actually got a bit of sun which was a good reminder that it doesn’t need to be summer to put on sunscreen. We had a few hours before we were gathering for Easter dinner so we headed out down the road and entered the trails from the pipeline. This is a cleared area where the TransCanada PipeLine…

    Spring Wandering at Assiniboine Park

    English garden walk

Spring has officially sprung for a good month now but in my neck of the woods it still looks quite grey and lifeless. We learned the hard way and made a list of cold weather camping tips to share so you don’t have to freeze like we did! My husband Darcy and I had never camped past the September long weekend.  We knew it was going to be cold so we packed everything! The forecast was saying it would rain for days and we replied with “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing!” We…

A mother and daughter adventure to beautiful British Columbia

    Feeding a Chickadee

This past March I hopped on a plane with my mom and flew to British Columbia. For the last few years Mom has been making this yearly trip to visit her sister and family. She invited me along this time for a little mother daughter adventure. It definitely started out a bit rocky with some of the flights getting canceled due to blizzard weather but even though our flight was delayed a little we were still scheduled to leave for Abbotsford. Our flight made one stop in Edmonton first and I was really nervous. This was the first time I had flown in a snow storm. Looking out the window…
